Salakbhat ( Pali : Salakbhatta ) is a term in the Vinayapitaka as a name for a method of giving offerings to monks. by drawing lots to distribute food or material items received from believers to offer in favor of believers who have limited material factors and cannot offer to all the monksThe lottery is counted in the sangha that has great merit. because it is considered that even if the lottery is offered to one of the monks who can draw the lot is equivalent to offering to all monks Because the lottery was drawn, every monk in the monastery was entitled. In addition, Lottery is also a principle in the discipline that the Lord Buddha set in order to create awareness of equality and unity among the Sangha.
In Thailand, there is a lottery tradition. the north is called The tradition of eating noodles at various temples, held during the 6th to the 8th month, which is the fruitful season, with the gathering of faith groups from the whole village to bring fruit and sweet savory decks to set up as a lottery. Offering to monks invited from different temples is a big tradition for villages and temples. Each region has different details of the traditions.
